Mason Jars are the perfect vessel for growing Bean Sprouts because their clear walls allow for light to easily pass through and they can be sterilized in the dishwasher between sprouting batches. The Bean Screen screws onto the mouth of wide mouth Mason jars and provides an anti-roll feature via the faceted sides, preventing the jar from rolling off counter tops. These lids work great, I like the design where you lay the jar down after draining, (keeps the sprouts from growing through the mesh and the squared off lid keeps them from rolling.) Also I love that there is less 'infastructure' then the other shouting jars I've used, no trays or little stands. That makes them especially good for traveling!
This is my second pair of tops. I could not find the other ones, so had to reorder. They are great! I have used another type of top before, but I like the way I can rinse without taking the lid off, and they are easy to drain.
I agree with every positive comment…Fantastic for sprouts. BUT…also amazing for defrosting frozen shrimp. Just put frozen shrimp in quart or half gallon jar..pop on this top and turn upside down in a bowl to catch the liquid. No more defrosted shrimp swimming in water!!! Love these little strainers…
I haven't used them yet but I'm excited to! I love anything Mason top!
I am new to sprouting so I can’t speak from experience, but these look lids work great. Easy to clean. I plan on ordering another set.
