The Real Risk of Cross-Culturing/Cross-Contamination

So, you’re really into fermenting and you have multiple ferments active in the same space. Now you’re worried about bacteria being transferred between them through the air. But how worried do you have to be? In short, not very. 

Unless you’re making cultures in an incubator (AKA a very, very small space), you shouldn’t worry about cross-contamination. Having multiple ferments active in your kitchen is totally fine. If you want to be really cautious and you have the space, you can space them out 4 feet apart as an extra precaution. If you don't have the extra space, don't worry about it!
