November 7, 2015 – Toronto, Ontario – Today Masontops™ shattered Kickstarter funding records in numerous categories with the Pickle Pipe® airlock fermentation tool. In one month the Pickle Pipe was funded by 4,533 backers and raised $189,066 USD, making Masontops the most funded Mason jar project worldwide and most funded food-related Kickstarter project in Canada. The Masontops Pickle Pipe is the only one-piece, silicone, self-sealing, and waterless airlock designed for Mason jar fermentation. Masontops founders Phil Baron and Mike Bacher invented the Pickle Pipe to overcome issues with at home fermentation which previously involved error-prone tools and complicated kits with multiple parts. The Pickle Pipe simplifies the fermentation process, eliminating barriers to entry for beginners and easing the process for experienced fermenters who make a large number of food batches. The Pickle Pipe automatically releases carbon dioxide during the fermentation process, negating the need to manually burp Mason jars to prevent them from exploding. The concept received outstanding praise and optimism from the fermentation community, which led to the record breaking success of the Pickle Pipe Kickstarter program.
